\nThe Pineapple Ball was conceived as a way for the entire community to come together to celebrate and pay special tribute to those individuals in our community who have gone above and beyond in their efforts towards the betterment of our village. \; Highly regarded as Garden City'\;s premier black-tie business and social event\, the Pineapple Ball is held annually at the Garden City Hotel and is one of the Chambers largest fundraisers of the year. \; The evening boasts 300 + attendees each year\, Journal Advertising\, Silent Auction\, Dinner\, Dancing\, and a night filled with first class elegance and fun! \;

\nThe Garden City Foundation promotes and supports Garden City'\;s civic and charitable organizations for our neighbors in need. It also annually awards "\;The Althea Robinson Excellence in Business Education Scholarship"\; to a deserving GCHS senior. This year proceeds from the Pineapple Ball will go towards funding that scholarship.

\nThis year\, the 18^th Annual Pineapple Ball will be held on November 13th\, 2020 from 7pm - Midnight at the Garden City Hotel. \;The Garden City Chamber of Commerce looks forward to honoring the following extraordinary individuals:

2020 Citizen of the Year - Donald X. Clavin\, Jr. - Town of Hempstead Supervisor \;

\n\n

The prestigious Citizen of the Year award was established in 1970 to recognize outstanding philanthropic efforts and services which have contributed the high standards and quality of life in the Village of Garden City and beyond. \;

\n\n

2020 Businessperson of the Year - Fred Carillo - 910 Franklin\, LLC. \;

\n\n

This award represents significant contributions to the local economy\, to the advancement of aims and objectives of the chamber of commerce and to the welfare of the Garden City Community. \; \; The criteria for the ?Businessperson of the Year? award was set 30+ years ago by the Nassau Council of Chambers. \;

2020 Community Achievement Award - Peter O'\;Hanlon - Seventh Street Gourmet

Established in 1974\, this recognition commemorates outstanding professionalism within the Village of Garden City and beyond\, through one?s position of vocation. \; \;

2020 President'\;s Award - Debbie Tavernese - Broadway Bound Dance Center \;

\n\n

Established in 2011\, the President'\;s Award has recognized above-and-beyond volunteer spirit and contributions to the Village of Garden City and beyond. \;
